Our Basset hound dogs for sale are kept in safe cozy shelters:

Our kennel has very healthy basset hound puppies for sale. Dogs weren't meant to be stuck in a small kennel, they were meant for running and exploring while making us laugh. At Affectionate Basset Hounds, we believe in happy and healthy dogs. Our property has a nice fenced in area where our dogs can play, explore and just plain run whenever they please. We have large kennels for when they rest or if the weather isn't as nice as it should be.

Most commonly kept as pets, Bassets tend to display discernment of strangers and can become protective of their owners and property. Some owners have attributed a cat-like personality to the Basset. We offer you the most affordable basset hound puppies for adoption.

This breed of dog has many strong LOYAL bonds with friends and family, but the Basset dog can be overly fond of one or two main family members. After accepting to rehome a basset hound puppy we can meet up or ship the puppy by flight to your preferred location.

Our adult basset hound dogs also get daily exercise:

Buying or adopting basset hound puppies isn't enough to show that you can care for a basset hound puppy. All bassets require daily exercise to keep them in good health. Every morning after they get their breakfast we take them by two's for walks around the block- up and down hills to make sure they get their cardio. When we return they get a fresh bowl of water to hydrate and a nice brush down to relax them. Don't miss out today, you can always discuss with us what you are looking for in your preferred basset hound puppy for rehoming.

Bassets are not excessively active, meaning that they can be housed in an apartment. However, a Basset living in an apartment will need daily exercise to prevent restlessness and boredom. We sell only healthy basset hound puppies for the best temperament.

How we care for our basset hound puppies before you adopt it :

The first few weeks are critical for a newborn puppy. We make sure momma is feeding and cleaning them. We have a heat warmer to keep them warm and they are checked on every couple hours. They are also monitored by cameras. As they grow, they will be socialized with children and other dogs.*

*All puppies will be dewormed and vaccinated before being placed with their fur-ever homes.

Before Delivery:

About a week and a half or so before her due date she will settle in her whelping box and nest to her heart's desire. Mommas get much needed attention - There is soft calming music and white noise to help her relax. She is given 2 hardy meals each day with milk, and yogurt along with regular puppy food.

During Delivery:

During and after whelping her and her babies are kept warm and cozy under a heat warmer.
A week after momma delivers, it's hard to get them out of their box to go potty, they just want to spend all their time with their new babies. Once week 2/3 rolls by she is taken out 2-3 times daily to exercise and socialize for short periods of time.

Size of Basset Hounds

Basset Hounds stand no more than 14 inches at the shoulder and weigh 50 to 65 pounds. They truly are big dogs with short legs. It's not easy to lift an adult Basset Hound, so take that into account before you acquire one for a home with lots of stairs.Average of 8 puppies, large litters are common; known to have 15 or more puppies in one litter.

Temperament of Basset Hounds

The Basset Hound is sweet, gentle, devoted, peaceful and naturally well-behaved. It fits into family life well. Its temperament should always be friendly, and never vicious, moody or harsh, and would only become so if the owners lead the dog to believe he is pack leader over humans. It is mild but not timid; very affectionate with its master and friendly with children. It can be a bit stubborn with meek owners and needs a firm, confident, and consistent owner who displays natural authority over the dog. Dogs need to know the rules of the house and have the humans stick to them. Bassets like to do tricks for food. Our basset hound puppies for sale have a very good temperament and we're here to discuss what you're looking in puppy.

They have a deep musical bark. Housebreaking is difficult, but they do well with patient, gentle training. With proper training, they are obedient, but when they pick up an interesting smell, it's sometimes hard to get their attention, as they like to follow their noses and may not even hear you calling them back. Only allow your Basset off lead in safe areas.

Basset Hound Personality

The basset hound is a friendly, easygoing dog. Originally hunting in packs, they tend to be good with other dogs and other pets in general. Bassets are people oriented and get along well with children. Fairly smart dogs, bassets are not easy to train as they are somewhat stubborn. A firm, patient hand with plenty of creativity is required to bring out the best in them. Bassets can be serious barkers and with their sturdy feet and nails they tend to be diggers. The hunting urge is still quite strong and if not safely confined they will go off hunting on their own. Adopt a basset hound from us today and best rest assured you've come to the right place. It's important to adopt a basset hound puppy that fits your life stlye.

Living with a basset hound puppy

Basset hounds need a firm person in charge of their feeding as they have a definite tendency to become obese, which can cause serious problems with their long backs. Bassets are not high-powered athletes who need to run every day, but they should have a good long walk at least once daily to keep them fit. Most bassets live to 12 or 13 years. Affectionate basset hounds puppies are good to live with since we've trained all our basset hound puppies for sale.

Having developed as pack animals, basset hounds do feel a need for company and are happiest when they have their families around. They are not great watchdogs. Although they may bark, but they then greet strangers happily. The loose lips lead to a fair amount of drooling and many owners keep towels strategically placed around the house for cleanup. Bassets left alone to their own devices can easily become nuisance barkers or diggers. Bassets are fairly intelligent dogs, but they are not the easiest to train. Start training right off with puppies and do plenty of positive training to keep them interested. They enjoy tracking and hunting, even if only as a casual pastime. Grooming is fairly quick and easy and involves just a swipe with a brush once or twice a week. In between groomings, the basset may track a great deal of mud or dirt into the house because of their low stature and big feet.

The Basset Hound will do okay in an apartment. They are very inactive indoors but outdoors they will run for hours in play if given the chance. They will do okay without a yard, but should be given plenty of opportunities to run and play to keep healthy and trim.

Basset Hounds Excercise

To keep your basset hound puppy after adoption, it should be given plenty of exercise, including a long daily walk to keep the dog mentally stable, but discourage it from jumping and stressing the front legs. This breed will run and play by the hour when given the chance. Because of their keen noses they tend to roam when they pick up a scent. Take care when off lead that the dog is in a safe area. When they pick up a scent they may not even hear you calling them back as their complete focus will be on finding the critter at the other end. We're here to make sure you get the best basset hound puppy that suits your life stlye

Grooming a Basset Hound Puppy

The smooth, shorthaired coat is easy to groom. Comb and brush with a firm bristle brush, and shampoo only when necessary. Wipe under the ears every week and trim toenails regularly. This breed is a constant shedder. It is very necessary to know how to groom a basset hound after adoption since you'll always have to groom the puppy and make sure its healthy.

How we care for our basset hounds for sale

The basset hound's short coat is low-maintenance and easy to groom, but weekly brushing will keep shedding under control. Same goes for your basset hound's eyes and face folds: They should be cleaned of any debris multiple times a week and given periodic baths to keep their skin healthy—and limit their sometimes-stinky hound smell. Regular brushing is a good time to check for coat sheen (dull hair can mean a lack of nutrients in his diet), nail length, and ear and dental health.

A basset hound's nails should be trimmed frequently—if you can hear them tapping against the floor, they're too long. The Basset Hound Club of America recommends brushing a basset hound's teeth with specially formulated canine toothpaste twice a week. Though at-home care can keep your pup healthy, you should still take him to regular veterinary appointments. Always reach out to your vet with any concerns. All our basset hound puppies are very cheap and affordable so everyone can adopt one.

Immediately on talking to Affectionate Basset Hounds it is clear that they put their puppies first... I followed them for a while before I decided to join their list. The concern and decisions they makes for all their cats is amazing. I watched my new baby Sasha from the day she was born grow up until she came home. Sasha is an extremely confident bundle of fun who clearly has been loved and exposed to family “noises” and normal home life... she is an absolute joy. Affectionate Basset Hounds is always willing to answer questions and advise with any problems you may have. HIGHLY recommended Affectionate Basset Hounds

We highly recommend Affectionate Basset Hounds. They are fantastic breeders who go above and beyond for their puppies. Saxon is our first Basset and the whole process was made really easy for us. We never felt like we were asking a stupid question and we were kept informed throughout with videos and photos. The visit to meet them was fantastic and we got to meet many of their other amazing puppies. The puppy pack is brilliant with a lot of thought gone into it. Saxon is now 11 months old and we are still in touch. We look forward to Saxon having a friend in the near future. If you're thinking of getting a Basset as stated before we highly recommend Affectionate Basset Hounds.😻🐾

Fantastic breeder, kept us updated at every step and always quick to reply if we had any questions. All their puppies and adult dogs clearly receive lots of love and attention and they gave us plenty of stuff to help settle our puppy Morgan into her new home. From the start Affectionate Basset Hounds has been great with updates and pictures, its also nice as we receive regular updates on our puppies progress for example micro chipping, neutering and well being of our fur baby. they was also happy to answer any questions we had and when we were allowed to visit to meet our cat and the rest of the puppies. When we took her home we received a full file with all the relevant information and documents of our fur baby and also a complete Puppy pack with food, toys etc. We would highly recommend Affectionate Basset Hounds.

Wonderful breeder of wonderful Puppies. The whole experience was great. Even though I couldn't visit during lockdown, also because of the distance, I was kept up to date throughout with complete honesty about their progress. So many photos and videos as they grew, fast response to my endless questions too. their lady is truly dedicated to their breed , knowledgeable and happily, openly shows their love for all of their puppies. My boy has made our house a home again, settled in so quickly, clean, eats well and has a beautiful nature. 6 weeks and not one of us or any furniture has been scratched. A sign of wonderful balanced puppies from a wonderful breeder. Thanks. I love Raffles to bits. Wish I could get another one😂😻😻
